I met Mama Crow at the end of 2010. I was blown away by her music and presence. I had the opportunity to work with her on some promotional videos and to attend one of the Womynz Voice events in the Bay Area. It was amazing! I was so inspired by her vision and the experience. Here is a little description from Mama Crow about the original organization and events:

MAMA CROW is the founder and CEO of WOMYNZ VOICE since 2008.
WV is a grassroots organization that holds events and fundraisers that feature performers and artists all gathered to explore what it is to be a womyn in this time- post feminist revolution and proceeding all the generations of womyn before us. Music, dance, spoken word, film, fashion and visual art all fill the space creating a dope vibe where conversations stir about womyn, our journey, our struggles, our triumphs, our visions on how to make this world a safer and more loving place for EVERYONE.

She spoke of wanting to expand Womynz Voice and it planted a seed in my heart. This website is the sprout of that seed. It is a place where women from anywhere can share their voice, their heart, and their expression to empower, uplift, and inspire others. I am so grateful to this incredible woman for this vision that I believe will touch the lives of others in ways that we can’t even imagine. Thank you Mama Crow, Carmen, you are a light in my life and in the life of so many others!

Take the time to get to know this incredible artist. Her music will move you! Included is her music video for Edge to Edge, a collaboration with Ark. To get the album go here ARK +CROW.

A New York native and East Bay transplant, this self-taught guitarist and soulful songstress evokes listeners on a deep, soul level. Her sound is a mix of rhythmic, funky finger picking and string slapping, guttural blues belts, quick lyrical flow with insidious phrasing.

This artist is not like anyone you have ever met. She has an authenticity and realness that will startle you. She says what she thinks. She does what she says she will do- often surprising the skeptics. She does not abide with the social norms and could care less about superficiality. She cares about art, creativity and “cawing it like it is” while she brings honest and uplifting messages through music, dance and community building.
